Does Bad Marketing Piss You Off?
Posted on 09 July 2012
Bad marketing really pisses me off. How about you?
I’m Kay Ross, a Hong Kong-based marketing consultant. And more importantly, I’m a customer, just like you. So I WANT companies to do a good job of marketing their products and services, I WANT them to make it easy for me to find and buy the things I want, and I WANT my clients to be successful.
In September 2011, I posted a blog post titled “Bad Marketing Pisses Me Off”.
A few months later, at a meeting of Heels & Deals Hong Kong (a networking group for female entrepreneurs), I met videographer Joanna Bowers of Cheeky Monkey Productions, who has since become a good friend.
That inspired me to create a series of four short videos about HOW bad marketing pisses me off. Joanna masterminded the whole production process for me, and she did a fabulous job.
Each part in the series is only about 1 minute 30 seconds long. The first 40 seconds or so of each video are the same, then in each video I share three or four examples of bad marketing.
Here’s Part 1 in the series:
I wish I’d added something to the script. I said that I show companies how to tell juicier stories “…so they attract more of the right kind of customers and make more money.” I wish I’d added: “and make a bigger difference in the world.”
This is my first attempt at creating videos and posting them on my blog, so I’m still learning, and I’d appreciate your comments.
And do you have some examples of bad marketing that piss YOU off? I invite you to share them here.
And here are Parts 2-4 in this series: Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but
other than that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read.
I will definitely be back.
Thanks for stopping by and for watching the video. I’m glad you find my blog useful.
